Claire and Marshall love to laugh and get right down to the fun of life. So clearly their main intention was for this District Winery Wedding to be of epic proportions in the terms of “partay”.
The week of their wedding though, their “partay” almost didn’t happen. COVID was looming and spreading now on the East Coast. They also had Marshall’s family and friends coming in from New Zealand and elsewhere in the world. So they were on edge hoping they could come over in time.
Also for us vendors this was a dynamic that we would now have to navigate that we never had to before. It was my first wedding wearing a mask which I wore during the reception when I couldn’t maintain distance during the dancing. And it was my first wedding not hugging the couple to congratulate them. And if you personally know me, I am a hugger <3
Luckily their wedding made it just in time and Marshall’s most important people got into D.C. for the celebration. And of course District Winery was the perfect backdrop to welcome these travelers.
Like I mentioned, Claire and Marshall making this wedding a bitchin’ party was their main focus so details were very minimal with classic florals and greenery and candles to add some ambience. They had a guest book for their closest people to sign that featured their engagement session photos. One detail that did stand out with grandeur was their cake. It was three tiered with gold foil painted on for a stunning finish.
For the party to be off the chain the music had to be kickass and I had just the person for them. Kyle from Mixing Maryland knows how to get the party going and keep people on the dance floor. Mixing old school hip hop with new beats, Kyle’s talent apparently even got the shirts off of the groom and his fellow kiwi’s closing out the night.
