Despite this year’s drastic changes to wedding plans all over the world, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the change to see couples intentionally choose to have more intimate days that are centered on the people they care about most. For Deana & Michael’s DC War Memorial wedding, that was just the case. Simple, beautiful, intentional.
We started the day out in Georgetown for Deana to put her dress on. Then it was time to see her father (one of my favorite images ever below!) and have an epic first look with Michael and their dog Sonny!
After that, we headed to the War Memorial along the National Mall (not to be confused with the World War II memorial of course). Some of Deana & Michael’s friends and closest family members had setup a few chairs and were ready for what would be an intimate and joyous ceremony under one of DC’s most historic monuments.
The rest of the day was relaxed and a blast! Deana & Michael wanted to explore the mall and head to the Lincoln Memorial. Despite the rain, these two were down with walking and shooting along the way (our favorite). It’s always an adventure walking around popular touristy locations in wedding attire but these two appreciated the multitude of congrats from the crowd. We enjoyed the unique sky color in front of the reflecting pool where they rocked their custom masks, then walked through Constitution Gardens to enjoy the epic weeping willow trees!
These two ended the evening with an intimate dinner back at the hotel with their family and rocked their first married day. I loved that no matter how big their wedding was, photography was important to these two and we spent the day with them either way! Here are a few of my favorite wedding photos from their DC War memorial wedding!
