Bride Reviews Mount Airy Mansion Wedding:

“The Mount Airy Mansion provides an interesting history which we included in the program so the guests could look around and enjoy what the mansion had to offer. They were very flexible, we could decorate how we wanted, with respect of the historic home of course. I would recommend this romantic setting to any pride that wants a quiet, comfortable beautiful setting. Our oldest daughter will be using this wedding venue also, she loves it too!”

Review

It’s not hard to find a historical wedding space in Maryland, let alone on the East Coast. That said, Mount Airy Mansion is a one of a kind wedding venue in Upper Marlboro Maryland.
Taking photos for Courteney & Tim’s Mount Airy Mansion Wedding was an absolute delight. The mansion itself is gorgeous and shined from the grey early morning, to the bright afternoon, it provided lots of fun spots to do their first look which I loved.
The ceremony setup at Mount Airy Mansion was my favorite part of taking pictures at a wedding there. Primarily an outdoor wedding venue, Mount Airy Mansion sets up their ceremonies in the shape of a circle, in a lowered courtyard. It’s super cool and very unique. It also gives more wedding guests a better view of the ceremony and more photo angles!
Here are a few wedding photos of Mount Airy Mansion’s unique Ceremony setup:

Isn’t that ceremony cool? Now in addition to the beautiful outdoor area for a wedding ceremony, there is a variety of rooms for prayers, getting ready, your reception, and maybe cocktail hours. It is a mansion after all! Also, there’s plenty of grassy outdoor space if you’d like to do a gorgeous outdoor cocktail hour with yard games and oysters like Courteney & Tim did. Some photos of the outdoor cocktail hour setup at a Mount Airy Mansion Wedding are blow:

History

Mount Airy Mansion was originally built as a hunting lodge by Charles Calvert, the Third Lord of Baltimore in 1660.
About 100 years later, George Washington attended the wedding of his step-son, John park Custis who married Eleanor Calvert.
Two times in Mount Airy Mansion’s history, the beautiful home has caught on fire in 1752 and 1931!
After the Mount Airy Mansion fire of 1931, Cissy Patterson purchased and restored the mansion. She added a swimming pool, guest cottages, tennis courts and a greenhouse for her orchids.
Needless to say, there’s a lot of history at this wedding venue!
