One of the things I love about wedding photography, is how unique every couple’s wedding day is. I’ve shot a Riverboat wedding before, but this one with DJ & Melissa this past weekend was one for the record books!
DJ & Melissa are really laid back and incredibly chill. When their day was turning out to be rainy, Melissa was already prepared with umbrellas for the wedding party. Once she saw DJ, the wind and the rain didn’t seem to matter. That’s one of my favorite things about first looks: how relaxed both partners feel the moment they see each other. It makes things official!
Having a wedding on a boat is a cool thing, but having it on the Cherry Blossom Riverboat is another level. Apparently, the Cherry Blossom is one of six coast guard certified working sternwheelers in the country! It made for super unique and intimate day.
As the boat sailed down the Potomac River near National Harbor then back up towards Ronald Reagan National Airport, the party and the fun continued on. The weather let up as well, so when folks weren’t dancing or enjoying the 800+ glow sticks, they were outside on the deck enjoying the amazing views of the DC skyline and watching airplanes take off. It was an AWESOME day! This day is just proof that weather can’t keep a good couple down. Here are a few of my favorites from DJ & Melissa’s Riverboat wedding in Alexandria!
