I’ve always said my camera is like a passport for meeting new people and learning about different occupations, cultures, and ultimately stories. For Jose & Marilyn, getting to know them has been exactly that and so wonderful! I know that Jose is working on his PhD and Marilyn is all about helping those in marginalized communities. Getting to know these two really early for some DC Memorial photos was such a treat!
We met at the Lincoln Memorial for sunrise on the mall of course, then made our way to the Jefferson. On the way there, Jose asked for a photo in front of one of the quotes on the Martin Luther King Jr memorial. I said “of course” and it may seem cheesy, but that moment was just so deep and meaningful. That’s why I do what I do.
