This wedding was a CRAZY one! Not just because it was my first time shooting a Fathom Gallery wedding, or because I love partying with Sharon & Shea, but because I shot this wedding with a broken wrist! I guess it’s time for a quick story…
A week before this wedding I was doing an off-road camping trip on my motorcycle from Tennessee to New York. The first 5 days were incredible and I was feeling great. On the 2nd to last day as I was going through Pennsylvania, I made a riding slip up and crashed. I didn’t know my wrist was broken but it hurt so bad. Due to being off-road and inaccessible to emergency vehicles, I had to ride out of the forest we were in. Luckily I was able to painfully ride to the hospital, get an x-ray and scheduled for surgery. That surgery though, not scheduled until after this wedding. I didn’t want to miss partying with these two and I even offered other photographers but they said I was the best fit and were open to it.
We started out the day in their epic home in Northwest DC with friends helping them get ready in different rooms. Lots of cheering, coffee, and music echoed through the halls before Sharon came down the stairs to meet Shea for a casual yet special first look. From there we headed to Blagden Alley for some wedding party and couples portraits. After that, it was all about the intimate ceremony during their Fathom Gallery wedding. From meaningful vows, FaceTiming family members in China, and 12 (yes 12) speeches, these two partied the night away in the upstairs of this DC venue!
The wedding didn’t end there! As with a lot of our couples recently, they invited us to the afterparty at a local DC speakeasy to get some photos of a smaller group and a different vibe. Even with a broken wrist, lots of Tylenol & water, I loved it! Here are a few of my favorites from Sharon & Shea’s Fathom Gallery wedding!
