One thing I’ve learned over the past year or so, is that the size of the wedding never takes away from the intentionality or emotion of the day. When it came time for Minsu & Nicole’s Kreeger Museum Wedding two weekends ago, it only enforced that lesson. Love, tears, laughs, boob jokes, and epic light were all present components. One combination not usually present at most of my weddings but now would probably describe my personality: pizza & Monet paintings!
Not wanting to be the center of attention, these two opted for a day that was a laid-back family celebration with good food and some DC elements. Other than myself, no non-family was present (other than one secret best friend, but don’t tell the others đ ).
At their rented AirBnB we started right as Nicole got her dress on with a first look in the back yard that you would never think is in DC. Then a few of us traveled to the National Gallery of Art which was a huge treat after not being in there in almost two years! Nicole & Minsu used to dance and have dates at the National Portrait Gallery so we drove up there for an extra photo location. All laid back with an emphasis on taking our time and enjoying the city with these beautiful people.
I think I have a new favorite location for intimate wedding ceremonies in DC. The Kreeger Museum is not only modern looking, filled with 9 Monets, and in a quiet part of the city but the staff was super friendly in helping make even this small wedding still feel extra special. The light was INSANE and I loved getting to explore somewhere new. Because I essentially spent the day with everyone present, it felt like I was part of the family by the end of the night.
We wrapped up the evening with dinner with Timber Pizza (who did mine and Sara’s wedding!), dances on the patio, and emotional speeches. This was one of the record books and I’m ready to be real friends with Minsu &Â Nicole once they come off the post-wedding life. Until then, here are a few of my favorite Kreeger Museum Wedding photos!
