Thus far, 2013 has been a year of firsts: a few weeks ago I shot my first farm wedding, the next day I shot my first beach wedding, I shot my first short film, and I did a THIRD engagement session for a couple I absolutely adore on the West Coast. This was my very first engagement session with my wonderful deaf friends Stephen and Mercy. Their Old City Philadelphia engagement was such a fun experience!
Here’s a little background first on how I met these two lovebirds! A while back, I = had another very special opportunity. I met Mercy last year while shooting for Creation Festival. She was a crazy talented fellow photographer, but what really stood out to me was her servant’s heart and infectious smile. When she contacted me about her engagement, I was so excited for her and her man, Stephen. I couldn’t wait to see them interact together.
Two weeks ago, I met up with Stephen and Mercy near Fishtown for their Old City Philadelphia engagement session! The weather was a bit on the rainy grey side, but that just made the shoot even more special.
See, Stephen and Mercy are both deaf. My very first deaf couple on Mason Photography. They are one of the most fun couples we’ve ever had!
I had to be very clear in my directions, which helped me in being articulate in posing. It was a ton of fun. I’m not bringing this up for the sake of exploiting them or any of my other deaf friends. Their story, in conjunction with the images, creates a positive and beautiful message.
So without further ado, here are two of my special, beautiful friends, in their Old City Philadelphia engagement session.
