In the winter months, at least in the Northeast, many wedding photographers receive a well-deserved break. Lots of couples want to plan for the warmer months, and the cold months are less attractive. Luckily for me, Chrissy & Vincent we’re prepared for anything at their Alexandrian Hotel Wedding, but lucked out with a wonderful Spring day!
Surprised by the gentle breeze and warm sun, we did Chrissy & Vincent’s first look outside in the new Alexandrian Hotel’s courtyard space. The Alexandrian used to be the Hotel Monaco and was a wonderful wedding venue, but the Alexandrian has really spruced up the courtyard (see the magic below!).
After a fun first look and hanging with Chrissy & Vincent’s wedding party, we took advantage of the weather and walked down the street just a few blocks to St.Mary’s Catholic Church for their wedding ceremony. The ceremony was gentle and peaceful, with Vincent’s parents even tearing up.
Once the ceremony was done, the wedding party and I walked around Old Town Alexandria to get some fun photos around the cobblestone streets, the waterfront by the Torpedo Factory, and interact with some local musicians.
Then, it was time to party! Chrissy & Vincent had an amazing first dance, and the Alexandrian Hotel’s staff treated everyone like royalty. Chrissy even surprised Vincent with a custom Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) cake, since it was Vincent’s birthday! Birthday cake AND wedding cake always sounds like a winning combination to me!
Mmmm. Cake.
