Weddings are looking very different these days, but what I’ve seen be the most successful when it comes to modifying or choosing to “pivot” for their wedding, is to pull through with what matters. Between managing grad school, DC jobs, moving, and planning a wedding, Jeff & Sarah had become experts in what matters these days anyway: each other, family, and the city you love. The essentials.
Exploring the National Gallery of Art with these two and post-session dinner outside of Blagden Alley was a blast, and was a precursor to what we’d have on wedding day.
What was supposed to be an epic DAR Wedding (our first time at DAR) with dancing, craziness, and lots of guests was still just as epic for Jeff, Sarah, and their crew of immediate family. In talking with Jeff and Sarah they were pumped about photos around Washington DC. Navigating through the city during protests was an interesting challenge but with enough time on the timeline, we made it to Lincoln Memorial, DAR Consitution Hall, and even got some gorgeous light for some reflecting pool wedding portraits.
After some portraits and exploration, we met the family on DAR’s outside terrace for an intimate ceremony overlooking the Washington Monument. After about 15 minutes for the ceremony, then some social-distanced family photos we headed back to the W Hotel for a few toasts and dinner from Maydan (and it was so good!). Weddings for the foreseeable future will be about adapting, and seeing Jeff & Sarah crush it and have this special day made me all the more excited for the remaining weddings we have left this year. Here are a few of my favorites from Jeff & Sarah’s DAR Wedding in Downtown DC!
