When it comes to planning a wedding, most couples know more about what they DON’T want than what they do. For Marie & Selim, they decided to throw out anything that was stuffy, inauthentic, traditional and trade it in for an incredible custom day. The bulk of the day was filled with National Portrait Gallery wedding portraits around Chinatown DC in the cold winter weather. Despite the cold, we were extra prepared with locations and ideas for an inclement weather wedding.

It’s always so fun to make your wedding day more of an experience than a day full of things you have to do. The three of us traveled throughout DC wherever Marie & Selim’s heart led. We started with your non-traditional National Portrait Gallery wedding photos and their incredible information superhighway exhibit. Then we walked through the Great Hall on our way to the Kogod Courtyard where the natural light filled in and made the most flattering and gorgeous images of Marie & Selim.

After a warm up (pun intended) inside, we walked in front of the Capitol One Arena per request of Selim who’s a huge Washington Capitals fan. Love that! Of course we had to hit up Lincoln Memorial so we headed there for some sunset wedding portraits at the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall. These two were troopers! Such an incredible wedding day and it setup the fun night of their short & fun ceremony at Top of The Town where they kissed and danced the night away! Here are a few of my favorite images from Marie & Selim’s National Portrait Gallery wedding!
