Brad & Anna’s wedding at Nassau Valley Vineyard on Saturday was special, for a multitude of reasons. It wasn’t just a perfectly gorgeous day, with incredibly loving people and lots of tears. Brad & Anna’s wedding day was a culmination of family and hope.
Over a year ago, while Brad & Anna we’re looking for a wedding photographer (and we had met, but at the time it wasn’t going to work out), Anna’s sister Rebecca had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I can’t imagine the stresses and tears that surrounded those moments, but months later Anna would email me and reveal something about Rebecca and Anna’s relationship.
Anna’s email to me said:
“Adam I’m ready to take the plunge – assuming you haven’t booked with someone else yet! My sister made it through her first round of chemo, shaved her head, and yelled at me when I told her we were still considering postponing 😄 . gotta listen to the big sister…”
I was floored. I immediately thought to myself “I’m glad I get to photograph Brad & Anna’s wedding, but I am so looking forward to meeting Rebecca who is a champion!”
Brad & Anna booked, we shot their engagement session at Tuckahoe State Park, and months later we’d arrive at their beautiful wedding at Nassau Valley Vineyard. I was so excited about this wedding and throughout the entire day kept thinking “this is why I’m here. This is why I do what I do. These are the people and the stories and they matter to every couple I photograph.”
And I got to meet (and photograph) Rebecca 😄 Enjoy some of my favorite photos from Brad & Anna’s wedding at Nassau Valley Vineyard below.
