A few weeks ago, close friends Jason & Amanda reached out to do some cool portraits around DC in their wedding outfits on what was supposed to be their sunny wedding day in California. Then they told me they were having a Zoom Wedding ceremony at home for just family a few minutes before and I was like “Guys. This has to be documented. Let’s do it as safe as possible but seriously.” and A & J we’re cool with it. ⠀
⠀
They got outfits online and random flowers delivered from friends. Purchased a copy of the Washington Post with their wedding date on it (so cute!). Jason got ready in the bathroom and Amanda in the bedroom of their Capitol Hill home. It was a little different, there was a lot less hugging and a lot fewer people, but the intention and the depth of what happened on Sunday were at its peak. Jason and Amanda’s families joined us on the laptop using Zoom which broadcast and recorded their intimate at-home wedding. I had been perfecting my at-home Zoom streaming setup for my education group and turns out it was the perfect solution for high quality (uses the same quality of cameras we shoot for) perfect solution for Zoom wedding streaming to friends and family!

I’m so proud of these two for making lemons out of lemonade, showing that when the materialism and plans are crushed out of our control, love can still happen and hope will not be canceled. During this time I’m reminded that togetherness, community, love, and enjoying each other’s company are more important than ever. If guests can’t make it now due to restrictions, safety, etc. then all the more need for photos that don’t just “get the job done” but tell the story in an authentic way.
P.S. These photos were featured in Vox

Here are a few of my favorites! Here’s hoping we get to do a few more of these this year!⠀
