While many folks were recovering from the snowstorm on the East coast last week, I was so thankful to be in the warm weather down in Nassau for Ashlee & Michael’s Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Wedding! I’ve photographed quite a few fun tropical weddings in the past few years but having visited the Bahamas with Sara for our honeymoon, and our anniversary I was extra excited for this warm Bahamanian adventure. Any wedding where the wedding band sings Sweet Home Alabama is going to bring some joy for sure.
We got lucky with the warmth and weather during their DC engagement session, so I knew this wedding would be special. There are certain weddings where everything just feels right. Ashlee & Michael’s families were so hospitable to invite the incredible Arbor Films crew and I to the rehearsal dinner, so come wedding day we already had a rapport with so many special people. We also didn’t need to rush anything, and had so much time to enjoy the warmth, the light and embrace wedding party & family photos with scenic views at the Grand Hyatt behind them.
Then it was time for the wedding ceremony on the beach, which was intimate and could not have been more perfect. As the sun was setting, the moon arrived and it was so gorgeous. After the wedding, was a reception that was a mix of family reunion, Bahamanian party, and downtown New Orleans celebration. Ashlee & Michael ended their reception at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar with a second line and brass trio which was really cool! These are the weddings I’ll remember for a long time, but not just because of the location, but because of the great people, the great team, and how easy-going everything was. But enough talk about the warmth, sun, and sand, here are a few of my favorites from Ashlee & Michael’s Bahamas wedding at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar last weekend!
